The city of Hutto has received a $400,000 grant from Texas Parks & Wildlife, which the city will match and use to develop a 36-acre tract.
The land, known as Hutto Lake, will eventually be connected by trails to two subdivisions, Park at Brushy Creek and Riverwalk. With the $800,000 from the TPW and city funds, the city will expand the existing park and trail system by more than 70 acres. Mike Hemker, Hutto Parks and Recreation director, says the park will eventually incorporate activity locations, wildflower and bird watching and a trail system.
